Blue Mountain Ski Magic: Where Winter Dreams Take Flight

Less than 20 minutes from the VanderMarck Boutique Hotel in Collingwood is Blue Mountain, where you can experience some of the best skiing and snowboarding around, whether you’re new to the sport or have been doing them for years. There’s plenty of snow to enjoy, and when you’re done hitting the slopes, you can rest up in your suite at the VanderMarck.

Here are some of the questions we get from visitors about skiing on Blue Mountain.

Are Skiing and Snowboarding Equipment Rentals Available?

The good news is that when you visit the VanderMarck, you don’t have to worry about lugging your skiing and snowboarding equipment around. There’s a rental building at Blue Mountain where you can pick up the rental equipment at your appointment time. If you’re going skiing, you can rent poles and skis, and if you’re planning on snowboarding, your gear will consist of boots, a helmet, and a snowboard.

Can I Take Lessons?

It’s a great idea to take lessons when you visit Blue Mountain. You can decide between group lessons or opt for one-on-one instead. Visit the Blue Mountain website to schedule your lesson.

When Can I Ski on Blue Mountain?

Skiing on Blue Mountain isn’t available all year. There are three timeframes for the 2024/2025 season. The early season is from December 12 to 20, 2024; the in-season runs from December 21, 2024, to March 16, 2025; and the late season is from March 17, 2025, until the end of the season.

Are Lift Tickets All the Same Price?

Lift tickets are not all the same price. There are daytime and nighttime tickets, the latter of which are applicable from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. You may also qualify for a discount when purchasing through the Blue Mountain website.

Prices vary depending on which season timeframe you want to ski, and there are also walk-up rates. Five pricing options are available: Tyke, Youth, Adult, Senior, and College & University students. It’s ideal to make your purchases online to ensure you get the tickets you want at the best price.

What Should I Wear to Go Skiing on Blue Mountain?

Considering the temperatures can drop significantly in the area during the winter, it’s important to dress warmly while skiing. However, you also don’t want to wear clothing that restricts your movement and prevents you from being able to navigate properly while walking and skiing.

You should ideally wear three layers. Start with long underwear as your base layer, then choose a middle layer to help insulate you and keep you warm and comfy. Lastly, a waterproof ski jacket will provide you with style on the slopes while also doing a great job at keeping you warm and preventing you from getting snow-soaked. Reflective outerwear is a good idea if you plan to ski in the evenings.

Do I Need to Make Reservations in Advance to Go Skiing?

If you want to go skiing at Blue Mountain, it’s an excellent idea to make all your reservations online. This will help you get the best price, make your reservations, and ensure you’ll get the equipment, dates, and times you prefer without any problems.
