Cool Off, Play On: Getting On The Water in Blue Mountain & Collingwood

Collingwood is known as a prime destination for many outdoor activities like golfing and skiing. Its location on the shores of Nottawasaga Bay in Georgian Bay also make it fantastic for water activities, giving you ample ways to stay entertained three seasons per year.

The VanderMarck Boutique Hotel in this beautiful multifaceted town offers fabulous accommodations where you can relax after a day of participating in a wide range of water activities in and near the area.

Kayak Fishing and Wildlife Tour

Taking a kayak fishing and wildlife tour is a wonderful way to embrace the peace and tranquillity of being out on the water with a guide to assist you, showing you all the best spots for bird viewing and fish catching. Everything is provided for this 4-hour tour, but you’ll need your own fishing license. Learn more about our Kayak Fishing & Wildlife Tour.

Swimming

Just a short drive from VanderMarck is Wasaga Beach, the world’s longest freshwater beach. Ideal for all ages, it’s a great place to go swimming and enjoy the beautiful weather. A picnic area is accessible, so make sure to bring incredible food from one of the local restaurants. We’ll be happy to offer personal recommendations for eateries. View the town’s beach cams if you want to see the conditions at the beach before visiting.

Jet Skiing

Jet skiing in the area allows you to explore the water while getting an adrenaline rush. You could take a tour or rent a jet ski, giving you two options to decide what you’re most comfortable with and best fits your preferences. However, please note that you need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card to operate the jet ski legally on your own, and there’s typically a minimum age requirement.

Water Tubing

Collingwood isn’t just where you can participate in snow tubing. Water tubing is also available and is a fun summer activity. Hold on to an inflatable tube and enjoy the splashes and excitement while a boat pulls you along the water.

Wakesurfing and Wakeboarding

Wakesurfing and wakeboarding are watersports you can try when you visit Collingwood. Although they both involve riding a board, they’re different from each other. Wakesurfing is done without a rope as you ride the boat’s wake, while wakeboarding involves towing by a rope.

How Far in Advance Should I Get Necessary Permits or Licenses to Participate in Water Activities?

It’s a good idea to get any necessary permits or licenses way before you actually need them. This allows enough time for processing and ensures everything is in place so you have the proper paperwork to show when you visit Collingwood and can participate in the exciting water activities. We don’t want you to miss out on any of the fun, so start looking into the processes today if you’re already planning a trip to town.
