Here are a few of the best road biking trails in and near Collingwood that cyclists will appreciate for all their beauty.
Georgian Trail
This 34.2-kilometer (21-mile) bike ride involves a straight shot down ON-26 W, with gorgeous water views of the Georgian Bay. If you’re following this route, you only have to add two extra cycling minutes to get from the VanderMarck to its starting point.
Remember that if you don’t want to do the entire 68.4-kilometer (42-mile) route, a left turn at any point heading toward Meaford will put you on track toward the hotel. Make sure to pull off safely at some spots along the way and take in the breathtaking sights.
Siding Trail
The Siding Trail is a less intense and shorter trip than the Georgian Trail. It’s approximately 2 kilometers (1.25 miles) each way. To get to the start point of this route, it will require an approximate 13-minute bike ride from the VanderMarck or a five-minute car ride, at which point you’ll start your cycling journey along the Barrie-Collingwood Railway route. The bike ride from the starting point to the endpoint and back takes about 1 hour.
Georgian Meadows Trail
The Georgian Meadows Trail is approximately 3.6 kilometers (2.25 miles) each way. It’s a 13-minute bike ride (or six minutes by car) to get to the starting point from the VanderMarck Hotel if you want to follow this Georgian Meadows Trail route.
There are more turns than the previous two routes, but when you make a left onto Mountain Road, it’s a straight shot until you reach the endpoint. Stop at Mair Mills Community Park if you want to take a breather before returning to the hotel. Consider bringing some food to have a picnic at this lovely spot.
